Student-centered guidance for building a clearer path to college.

I bring together admissions experience, behavioral science, data-informed planning, and cross-cultural student support to help Admission Masters students build a thoughtful direction they can actually understand and follow.

About Counselor Joe

Educational Consultant at Admission Masters

I graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University as a Johnson Scholar, majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with minors in Data Science and Chinese. My academic background helps me understand how students learn, make decisions, build habits, and communicate their growth through evidence.

I have worked in college admissions, behavioral science research, statistics and data science tutoring, and campus leadership. That combination shapes how I advise students: structured, personal, and focused on connecting academics, activities, projects, and college goals into one clearer story.

I was born in Korea, lived in China for nine years, and immigrated to the United States when I was 12. Because I had to adjust to a new country and learn the U.S. college admissions process from a blank slate, I understand how confusing and overwhelming the process can feel for students and families navigating it for the first time.

Background and perspective

Experience that informs my advising.

01

Admissions Perspective

I worked in the Washington and Lee University Admissions Office for three years, supporting prospective students and families through prospective student interviews, tours, campus programs, outreach support, and visitor experience work.

02

Research and Data Training

My work in courtroom decision-making research, behavioral science research, statistics, and data science tutoring helps me guide students toward stronger questions, clearer evidence, and more thoughtful projects.

03

Leadership Development

I led and helped build campus organizations focused on cultural exchange, global performance, and leadership education, giving me a practical understanding of how student initiative grows over time.

04

Cross-Cultural Support

I was born in Korea, lived in China for nine years, and immigrated to the U.S. at 12. I understand the emotional and academic adjustment of entering a new country, learning a new school system, and building a college path without an obvious roadmap.

저는 Washington and Lee University에서 Cognitive and Behavioral Science를 전공하고 Data Science와 Chinese를 부전공했습니다.
